Dr. Antônio Santos (DsC in Atomic and Molecular Physics at Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is Full Professor of Physics at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Research Fellow of CNPq (Brazil). He is an experimentalist who specializes in inelastic interactions between atomic and molecular particles and in Physics Education Research. Over the years, he has used measurements of target ion production to identify ionization by electrons, positrons, photons and ion impact. These studies cover topics such as single and multiple ionization of atoms, electron capture and loss by light and heavy ions. With over 30 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Santos has made significant contributions to the understanding of ionization of atoms and fragmentation of molecules.  His work has been published in leading scientific journals, earning accolades such as IOP Trusted Reviewer, and Outstanding Reviewer Awards, by Institute of Physics IOP (2023).  Beyond research, Dr. Santos is dedicated to mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, fostering curiosity, and advancing the field through innovative teaching methods. When not in the lab or classroom, he enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
