Dr. Rufus. D is presently working as Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator in the Department of Criminology, Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Jodhpur (in short SPUP), Rajasthan. During his early teaching career, he was teaching in Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice & Department of Psychology of ManonmaniamSundaranar University, Tamil Nadu, and headed the Department of Criminology and Police Administration, of ArulmiguPannirupidi Ayyan College of Arts and Science, Nanguneri,Tirunelveli.
At present, he is Course Coordinator of MA/MSC Criminology, BA Security Management, and Diploma in Police Administration. He is also Deputy Director, Center for Correctional Studies of SPUP.He has served as Associate Dean, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Police Studies in SPUPUniversity. He has been serving as both internal and external member of Board of Studies several times. He has served as member of Academic Council of Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Jodhpur. He is a member of ‘Research and Development Cell’ of SPUP-Jodhpur. He is also serving as University’s nodal officer for the “Post Graduate Diploma in Police Administration and Internal Security” (PGDPAIS) for the CRPF Academy,Gurugram
He holds Degree of Bachelor in Physics, Degree of Master in Criminology and Criminal Justice Science (University Rank II) and PhD in Criminology from ManonmaniamSundaranar University. In addition to that he has successfully completed his Master (University Rank III) and M.Phil degree in Sociology from Tamil Nadu Open University under Distance Education Mode.He was awarded the meritorious UGC- NET-Junior Research Fellowship for his doctoral research (2006). He, additionally, qualified in UGC-NET in the subjects ofWomen Studies(2012) and Sociology (2013). His doctoral research work was in the field of Victimology with special reference to Victims of Sexual Harassment at Workplace.
In addition to his merit, he was selected and awarded Dr.Machiko Fukuhara Scholarship to participate in 8th AsianPost Graduate Course on Victimology and Victim Assistance (2008) & 13′h International Symposium on Victimology (2009) of the World Society of Victimology, held at Tokiwa University, Mito, Japan. Till date he has served 14 years of teaching experience, which includes teaching the post graduate level courses in Criminology, Psychology, Human Rights and Duties Education. He has published his writings as research papers (45+) in the form of articles in reputed national, international journals, chapters in books and also in conference proceedings. He has chaired/Co-chaired in many Seminars/Conferences’ technical sessions.
His doctoral research thesis has got published as an edited book by the ManonmaniamSundaranar University Publication. He has presented around 60 research papers in national, International Seminars and conferences. Since his career in academics, he has organized several special lectures, Workshops, Seminars, Symposium,One Faculty Development Programme.He has been invited to review the articles for the reputed journals. He has been member of Editorial Board of thei)‘International Journal of Police, Security and Criminal Justice (IPSC) , ii) TIMER Journal.
He has membership in the academic societies associated to Criminology, Victimology, Women Studies,etc. Currently, his areas of academic interest are in criminology, policing studies and an interdisciplinary approach to ‘victimology and human rights of women, children, senior citizens etc.’, and women’s studies. He has been delivering special lectures in his fields ofinterests.For his academic credit, he was awarded a prestigious ‘Young Educator and Scholar Award’ by National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED) in2020.He was bestowed with ‘Dr. KALBE Sadiq Award for Outstanding Research’ by Indian Mental Health and Research Centre (IMHRC) & Shia P.G. College in the year 2022.
