Sviatoslav Polovkovych graduated from the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” in 2005 with a master’s degree in “Biotechnology of Biologically Active Substances.” In 2011, he earned a specialist diploma with honors in “Pharmacy” from Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. Since 2006, he has been working at the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Compounds, Pharmacy, and Biotechnology at the National University “Lviv Polytechnic.” Between 2006 and 2008, he also worked as a technologist at the pharmaceutical enterprise JSC “Galychpharm.”
In 2011, Sviatoslav defended his PhD thesis, “Synthesis and Properties of New Physiologically Active Compounds Based on 2,4,6-Trichloro-1,3,5-Triazine,” earning the degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences (PhD) in Organic Chemistry (specialty 02.00.03). In 2019, he defended his doctoral dissertation, “Design of Condensed Heterocyclic Systems Based on 1,4-Quinones, Quinoxalines, and 1,3,5-Triazines,” obtaining the degree of Doctor of Chemical Sciences in the same specialty. Since 2021, he has served as a professor at the National University “Lviv Polytechnic.”
Sviatoslav’s research focuses on developing innovative methods and techniques for synthesizing new organic compounds and investigating their biological activity. His contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including:
• Best Young Scientist at the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” in 2013.
• Regional award for significant achievements in science in Lviv region, 2020.
• Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Fellowship for Young Scientists (2020–2022).
• Nominal scholarship for Young Scientists – Doctor of Sciences from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2023.
• President of Ukraine’s Prize for Young Scientists in 2024.
Currently, Professor Polovkovych continues to work at the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Compounds, Pharmacy, and Biotechnology at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.
