Ir. Associate Professor Dr. Wong Wai Kit has been with Multimedia University Malaysia for 20 years. He holds Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Honors) in Electronics Engineering majoring in Telecommunications (2003), Master of Engineering Sciences Degree (2006) and PhD Engineering (2012) from Multimedia University, Malaysia. He obtained his Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate status from the Board of Engineer Malaysia in 2012. Currently he is the Professional Assessment Examiner for Malaysia Professional Engineers candidates and the head of panels for the Malaysia Engineering Accreditation Council’s Electrical and Electronics Engineering Degree Programmes (practicing Washington Accord).He also active in research activities. His 2024 Google h-index citation is 15 and i10-index is 24. His research expertise and experience cover broad areas which include digital signal processing, image processing, machine learning, deep learning, thermal imaging, and surveillance technologies. In 2024, he was invited three times to India for the delivery of international conferences inaugurate and keynote address, including ICIRIST-2024 (topic: Banknotes Counterfeit Detection Using Image Processing Techniques), INCDAD24(topic: Patients Tracking System for Dementia Nursing Homes) and DSEC invited talk(topic: Data Center: Challenges and Opportunities, Towards Utility Maintenance and Management).His current research interests include smart home security systems, autonomous robotic, image processing tools, and electronic gadgets for improving the handicapped personal lifestyle. Currently he is on assignment to Malaysian Association for The Blind (MAB) as a product innovator, whose mission is to promote electronic devices that enhance the quality of life for visually impaired people in ASEAN nations. Under the same UN SDG 10 category (Reduced Inequalities), he also has the passion to venture into the research domain of improving elderly people lifestyle, that aligned with the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030)).
